RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING ROSE BRIXY
WHEREAS, Rozalia (Rose) Grybas Brixy was born on July 30, 1917. She consequently will be celebrating her 100th birthday; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Marty Quinn, Alderman of the 13th Ward, has apprised the members of the chamber of this remarkable woman's auspicious milestone; and
WHEREAS, Rose Grybas was born at home in McKinley Park with the assistance of a midwife. She had four older brothers who unfortunately have passed away: Ted, Wally, Joseph and Stanley; and
WHEREAS, Rose attended Green School for two years and then went to St. Peter and Paul where she graduated from eighth grade. Her first job was at a tea company tying tea bags together; and
WHEREAS, Rose then went to work on the assembly line at the Zenith Corporation for twenty-five cents per hour; and
WHEREAS, Rose was set up on a blind date with Henry Brixy. They married on July 1, 1950, and were married for thirty-six years until his death. Mrs. Brixy had a daughter, Marie, and Rose stopped working to raise her child; and
WHEREAS, Rose Brixy has two grandchildren, Andrew, who works for the Chicago Fire Department, and Anna. She has two great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews;
and
WHEREAS, Rose Brixy moved from McKinley Park to Garfield Ridge in 1981; and
WHEREAS, Rose Brixy is a faithful member of St. Daniel the Prophet Church; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this 29th Day of March, 2017, do hereby congratulate Mrs. Rose Brixy on her 100th birthday and extend our very best wishes for many more birthdays to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Rose Brixy.
