MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, John J. Thometz was called by God to his eternal reward on December 20, 2012, at the age of 91; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, John Thometz was an active and vital member of his community. The beloved husband of the late Anne (nee Fardy) for sixty-two years; beloved father of John (Liz), Gerard (Jamie), Mary Anne (Rob) Uhland, Anne (Kent) McGuire and Joseph (Nancy) Thometz; cherished grandfather of twenty; and the devoted great-grandfather of two, John Thometz leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, John Thometz was a United States Air Force Captain during World War II, after which he devoted his life to his true passion of being a family physician. His patients appreciated Dr. Thometz's tireless dedication and loving care and he was highly respected within the physician community, holding many leadership roles; and
WHEREAS, John Thometz will be remembered for his kindness and devotion to his wife and family, his deep faith in God, and his dedicated work with a variety of Catholic charities; and
WHEREAS, John Thometz will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this seventeenth day of January 2013, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of John J. Thometz and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy ofthis resolution be presented to the family of John J. Thometz.
