RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, Jeremiah McCarthy has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God al the age of 83 to his eternal reward; and

 

WHERE AS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Patrick D. Thompson, Alderman ofthe 11th Ward; and

 

WHEREAS, Jeremiah "Jerry" McCarthy; Loving husband of 47 years to Bernadette, nee . Melone; adoring father to Kathleen (James) Distasio; proud grandfather to Joseph and Lucy; fond brother-in-law to Bob (Arlene) Melone; dear uncle to Mia; cherished son of the late Daniel and Mary McCarthy; caring brother to the late Daniel "Ducky"; cousin to Eileen Connolly, the late Jack McNamara, and many in the U.S. and Ireland; and friend to more; and

 

WHEREAS, Jerry, a retired firefighter with the Chicago Fire Department, member ofthe
Chicago Board of Trade and Mercantile Exchange, and proud U.S. Army veteran; Frequent
traveler to the sandy beaches of his beloved Naples, Fla. Star basketball player for De La Salle
Institute and the CFD team, as well as an avid fan of Chicago sports and Notre Dame football;
"Go Irish!"; and      . - '.

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Jerry to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago gathered here this twenty second of July 2020, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Jeremiah McCarthy and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
