RESOLUTION

WHEREAS. In His infinite wisdom. Almighty God has granted eternal peace to Zola Hightower on August 7, 201 8, outstanding citizen and member of her community; and

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Anthony A. Beale. Alderman ofthe 9lh Ward; and

WHEREAS, Born on November 1, 1940, in Belzoni, Mississippi, blessing the union of (the late) Prcscilla Akins and (the late) Samuel Hightower. She moved to Chicago, Illinois when she was a young girl. She completed her education and accepted a position as a kindergarten teacher with the Chicago Archdiocese until her retirement in 2010. She leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love: and

WHEREAS, Zola enjoyed traveling and taking long walks through her community; and

WHEREAS, Zola was beloved by all who knew her for her sweet and gentle soul, love of life and appreciation for what she had. especially her family. She was a woman of grace, class, and wisdom. An active and vital member of her community, she never hesitated to give a helping hand; and

WHEREAS, Zola leaves to love, cherish and honor her memory: her children, Renady, Reginald
( Paula), Regina and Renell: grandchildren, Mac, Oliver. Gabriel and Samuel: fond aunt of many nieces
and nephews and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her; and

WHEREAS, Known for her kind heart, Zola is remembered for her beautiful sense of humor, welcoming nature and no-nonsense personality. She touched the lives of all who knew her through her unconditional love, kindness and caring spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memory other character will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, that we the Mayor and members ofthe City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this twentieth day of September, 2018, do hereby express our sincerest sorrow upon learning ofthe passing of Zola Hightower and extend our deepest condolence to her family and loved ones.
