RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, On November 15, 2014, East-West University will be holding its 11th Annual Scholarship Dinner; and
WHEREAS, this august body has been apprised ofthe occasion by The Honorable RobertW. Fioretti, Alderman ofthe 2nd Ward, where East-West University is located; and
WHEREAS, East-West University will hold a reception for the 11th Annual Scholarship Dinner on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at the Metropolitan Club in the Willis Tower, featuring keynote speaker Mr. Brad Bogan, Divisional Vice-President of Supply Chain Operations for Walgreen's; and
WHEREAS, East-West University has provided affordable education to students of all racial, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds for the past 34 years, with approximately 80 percent of their student body coming from disadvantaged communities; and
WHEREAS, committed to providing a quality education at an affordable level, with a focus on personalized attention and class participation, East-West University encourages students to think critically and discover their strengths, both academic as well as personal; and
WHEREAS, East-West University's scholarship recipients represent the highest standard of students, excelling above and beyond their academic requirements, many of them the first generation in their family to attend college; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City of Chicago City Council, gathered together on this 5th Day of November, 2014, do hereby salute East-West University's 11th Annual Scholarship Dinner and extend our very best wishes for continued success in fulfilling its vital mission.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to East-West University.
