CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO ANDREW RODRIGUES

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this legislative body to honor those young citizens whose dedication to their studies and community endeavors, serve as an example to others; and

WHEREAS, It is with great honor that we are pleased to extend our congratulations to Andrew Rodrigues, a seventh grader, for being selected for membership in the Mokena Junior High Chapter ofthe National Junior Honor Society, which is one ofthe highest honors that can be awarded to a junior high school student; and

WHEREAS, On Thursday, October 22. 2015, at the Mokena Junior High School, his proud parents, Sanjay and Lisa Rodrigues, brother, Kern and his grandparents, William and Angeline Carney joined Andrew for his formal induction into the National Junior Honor Society; and

WHEREAS, The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is an International organization that consists of Chapters in middle schools, (grades 6-8). The NJHS was founded in 1929 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals, and today has chapters in the United States, Puerto Rico, other U.S. Territories and Canada; and

WHEREAS, The National Junior Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to.honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the five pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Citizenship and Character. The National Junior Honor Society strives to recognize the total student: one who excels in all these areas; and

WHEREAS, The national standard for academic scholarship recommends that National Junior Honor Society inductees maintain a scholastic average of at least an 85 percent or a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Andrew has achieved a 5.0 grade point average for the past year as recommended by the Mokena Junior High School Chapter; and

WHEREAS, The leaders of this great city are cognizant of the importance of our youths and...
