MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR EDWARD PHILLIPS
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the departure of Edward Phillips on June 16, 2017; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37'1' Ward; and
WHEREAS, Edward was born on July 24, 1943, to the union of the late Martha Miller Robinson and Henry Phillips; and
WHEREAS, He professed his hope in Christ at an early age, attending St. James Church; and
WHEREAS, Edward attended George Washington Carver High School in Louisiana and, completed his education in the United States Armed Forces Institute. He joined the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1966; and
WHEREAS, Edward leaves to cherish his memory two sons Kyle F. Smith (Elaine), and Bradley K. Phillips, one daughter Nijela Kimberly Phillips, one brother Gerard Keith, one sister Cheryl Lynn Reed-Kyles, nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews , other family members and friends; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this 28th day of June, 2017, do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Edward Phillips; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution are presented to the family of Mr. Edward Phillips as a sign of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
