TRIBUTE TO BENDELL GILL
WHEREAS, In His Infinite Wisdom, Almighty God has granted eternal peace to Bendell Gill, an outstanding citizen and member of his community; and
WHEREAS, Bendell Gill was born on June 21, 1945, in Harperville, Mississippi. He was the youngest of three children born to Leearman Gill and Aletha Hughes. His family and friends knew him as "Ben"; and
WHEREAS, Ben Gill grew up in Hillsboro, Mississippi and later moved to Chicago where he graduated from Harlan High School. After graduating from high school, he decided to join the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged upon completing his tour of duty; and
WHEREAS, After completion of his military service, Ben Gill started working at the United States Postal Office and later became a business entrepreneur. Green Hughes, Ben's grandfather, had a great impact on his life and helped shape him into a strong responsible man that led to Ben's success in enterprise; and
WHEREAS, Ben Gill leaves behind to mourn his passing his wife Lillie; two sons Sernard and Mario; daughter Felicia and two sisters Carmella and Blanche as well as 12 grandchildren; and.
WHEREAS, The Honorable Anthony Beale, Alderman ofthe 9th Ward, has informed this august body of this praiseworthy man's transition; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we the Mayor and members ofthe City ofChicago City Council, gathered together this 28th Day of July, 2011 AD, do hereby express our sincerest sorrow upon learning of the passing of Bendell Gill and extend our deepest condolence to his family and all of those whose lives he touched.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Bendell Gill.
