RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Nancy Y. Lipman has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 61; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Nancy is survived by her spouse, Johanne M. Kenol, her son, Christopher (Diana], her grandchildren, Matthew, Abigail, and Sean, and her brother, Daniel Blank, family, and friends; and
WHEREAS, Nancy was a lifelong Chicagoan, growing up in Mount Greenwood and living most of her adult life in the Beverly neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from Morgan Park High School, Nancy earned a bachelor's degree from St. Xavier University, and shortly after became a paralegal; and
WHEREAS, In 19GS, Nancy began a new career as a Chicago police officer, and became a field training officer for recruits, eventually being promoted as a sergeant on the tactical team; and
WHEREAS, In 1999, she ascended to the rank of lieutenant, then was made captain in 2008 and a commander ofthe public transportation unit in 2013; and
WHEREAS, Nancy retired in 2016 from the Chicago Police Department to spend more time with her family; and
WHEREAS, For most of Lipman's career, Nancy was involved with the Lesbian and Gay Police Association/Gay Officers Action League ("LGPA/GOAL Chicago") as a board member, promoting diversity and acceptance as well as educating the police and community about LGBTQ people and their history; and
WHEREAS, Nancy enjoyed spending time at her South Haven, Michigan home where she loved walking on the beach and spending time with her family and pets, especially with her grandchildren taking them sledding, biking, park hopping, and nature exploring; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Nancy Y. Lipman imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
