MEMORIAL RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Luis M. Ortiz, born on October 25, 1955, was called by God to his eternal reward on January 18, 2011; and

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39^th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Luis Ortiz, the beloved husband Carmen Torres, was an active and vital member of his community. The loving father of Eileen McFadden, Deliz Rivera and Luis Ortiz, Jr.; cherished grandfather of Johsua, Janeliz, Julissa, Crystal and Brenda; dearest son of the late Felipe Ortiz and the late Elba Rosado, Luis Ortiz leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and

WHEREAS, Luis Ortiz will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this ninth day of February, 2011, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Luis Ortiz and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and

Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Luis Ortiz.
