TRIBUTE TO LATE FIRST LADY PICCOLA WALKER


WHEREAS, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom and judgment has called First Lady Piccola Walker from this life to eternity on Friday, January 11, 2013; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Carrie M. Austin, Alderman of the 34th Ward and Chairman of the Committee on Budget and Government Operations; and

WHEREAS, The late First Lady Piccola Walker was the loving wife of Reverend J.T. Walker, Sr. for more than fifty-six years. They shared their love with their six children, William, Rose, Pattie, John, Donald, and Eddie; sixteen grandchildren, great grandchildren, other family members, and their extended family from the Burning Bush Missionary Baptist Church where Rev. Walker was Pastor; and

WHEREAS, Among her many talents was her creativity when it came to cooking delicious meals. Family, friends and acquaintances would rave about the mouth watering main courses and delightful desserts First Lady Piccola Walker was famous for preparing including the home made rolls, sweet potatoes and rich and creamy, peach cobbler one could only dream about; and

WHEREAS, First Lady Piccola Walker's most enduring legacy is her family. She loved flowers and would say "Give me flowers while I can smell them". She was a fashionista with her hats, clothing home decor; and

WHEREAS, The loving wife of Reverend J.T. Walker, Sr.; devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend of many, First Lady Piccola Walker leaves a legacy of faith, dignity, compassion and love; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this thirteenth day of February 2013, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of First Lady Piccola Walker and extend to her family and loved ones our sincere condolence.
