TRIBUTE TO SYLVESTER "SY" PTAK
WHEREAS, Almighty God, in His Infinite Wisdom has granted eternal peace to Sylvester "Sy" Ptak, an outstanding businessman, barrister and member of his community; and
WHEREAS, Born in 1925, Sy Ptak was just four years old when the Great Depression began. He spent his formative years under its hardship and privation. He answered his nations call to duty and faithfully served in the United States Army; and
WHEREAS, During his four score and eight years, he became an attorney, founded and was president of Preferred Savings and Loan, was president of Preferred Bookkeeping, and married Lorraine Maciejewski. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Connie and Kim; and
WHEREAS, Sy Ptak leaves behind to mourn his loss and celebrate his memory his wife and two daughters as well as three grandsons, Timothy, Michael and Matthew; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert W. Fioretti, Alderman ofthe 2nd Ward, has informed this august body of the passing of yet another of what journalist Tom Brokaw called the "Greatest Generation"; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City ofChicago City Council, gathered together this 8th Day of May, 2013 AD, do hereby express our sincerest sorrow upon learning of the passing of Sylvester "Sy" Ptak and extend our deepest condolences to his family and all those whose lives he touched.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Sy Ptak.
