RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Alfonza "Al" Wysinger has officially announced his retirement as First Deputy Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department following nearly three decades of dedicated public service; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, During his long and illustrious career, Alfonza "Al" Wysinger was promoted through the police ranks from Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Commander to Deputy Chief and eventually was named First Deputy Superintendent in 2011; and

WHEREAS, As First Deputy Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department, Alfonza "Al" Wysinger was the second in command and responsible for overseeing all of the department's daily operations; and

WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, Alfonza "Al" Wysinger attended the Chicago Public Schools and continued his education at Chicago State University and Calumet College of St. Joseph, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Law Enforcement Management; and

WHEREAS, During his 29 years of service to the Chicago Police Department, First Deputy Superintendent Alfonza "Al" Wysinger ably served in many specialized units, including the Patrol Division, Organized Crime Division, Narcotics and Gang Investigations, and the Detective Division; and

WHEREAS, Alfonza "Al" Wysinger was also a member of the Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force as a patrol officer and a supervisor; and

WHEREAS An alumnus of the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety School of Police Staff & Command, First Deputy Superintendent Alfonza "Al" Wysinger was voted Vice President of the One Hundred Sixty Fourth Class of 2001; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Alfonza "Al" Wysinger serve as an example to all; ow, therefore
