RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, After 30 years of service with the City ofChicago Department of
Streets and Sanitation, Carmen Prestigiacomo retired at the end of June; and

WHEREAS, Carmen was born on September 15, 1958, to Marky and Bernard Prestigiacomo, and he has a twin sister, Nina, an older brother, Michael, and younger brother, Mark; and :
WHEREAS, Carmen grew up in the Galewood area where hi attended Lewis Elementary, Steinmetz High School, and Triton College and is still great friends with many of his classmates from his early years; and ;
WHEREAS, During his grammar school years he hung out and participated in

activities at Amundsen Park and was an undefeated boxer in 6 ,7 , and 8 , grades; and
WHEREAS, Carmen met his wife, Sherri, in 1987, they married in 1990, and are the proud parents of Samantha, Adam, and Alex; and j
WHEREAS, Carmen began his career on April 30, 1982, as a laborer with Streets and Sanitation in the 36th Ward where he remained for three years, transferred to the 41st Ward for three years, became a Clerk in District 2 for seven years, went to lot cleaning and garage demolition for four years, became a refuse coordinator in the 47th Ward for one year, and then finished his career in the 40th Ward where he's been for the past twelve years; and |
WHEREAS, The residents and business owners ofthe 40th Ward knew that if they had an issue that concerned Streets and Sanitation, no job was too small or too big for Carmen as he performed these tasks with a smile on his face, taking great pride in the work he did, and he will be missed by all those who came in contact with him; now, therefore, j

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor ofthe City ofChicago and members of the City Council, gathered in a meeting this 28th day of July, 2011, A.D., do hereby extend our sincere appreciation for his years of service to our City and offer our congratulations and best wishes to Carmen Prestigiacomo and his family...
