Title: Gratitude extended to Janet C. Harris-Sutton on 30 years of music ministry and broadcasting

Resolution
WHEREAS, Janet C. Harris-Sutton is celebrating a thirty year career in the ministry of the Word of God this year, over the course of which she has been a dedicated servant to people in our community through her gospel music singing, broadcasting, and directing; and
WHEREAS, this joyous anniversary has been brought to the attention of this august body by the Honorable Robert Fioretti, alderman ofthe second ward; and
WHEREAS, Janet has achieved much in her gospel career, having served on the board of directors of the Chicago Mass Choir and as a member of the Chicago Gospel Fest committee, a Fest for which she has also served as Mistress of Ceremony. She has served as a member of the Gospel Music Steller Awards Committee on more than one occasion. She has judged the McDonald Choir Competition and recently won first place in the "How Sweet the Sound" choir competition; and
WHEREAS, Janet was born in 1961 in Chicago to Pastor James and Calitha Harris; she has two brothers named James C. Harris, Jr. and Elder Carl J. Harris, who is currently Pastor of the True Holiness Church. She went to Harvard and Washington Elementary Schools, graduating from Thornton Township High School. She also attended Eastern Illinois University and the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she was employed as a graduate advisor for fifteen years; and
WHEREAS, Janet married her husband Arthur D. Sutton in May 1995, and they have two children together, Arthur II and Jucari; the couple now plays music together in the group Gift of Praise; and
WHEREAS, Janet has been a consistent presence for music ministry on the radio since joining WLNR in 1984; she has since gone on to WMPP in Ford Heights and WWCA in Gary, Indiana. She joined WYCA and began producing her own show with 50,000 watts on Saturday morning from 11 a.m. to noon entitled "The Christian Community Gospel Hour."
