MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR MONA J. BARTH
WHEREAS, it is with great sadness that the members of this chamber learned of the death of Mona J. Barth (nee Armato) on February 2, 2019 at the age of eighty-one; and
WHEREAS, the Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Mona, born on August 21, 1931, led a full and accomplished life with her beloved husband of almost sixty years, Francis Barth, by her side. They were blessed with two beautiful children. Family was the center of Mona's life. She was a nurturing, caring, and doting mother with strong morals, believing that family fellowship was important and education was essential; and
WHEREAS, Mona loved to travel. Her robust and warm spirit delighted her fellow travelers as she accompanied them on classic tours from Turkey to Greece to Scotland and Portugal; and
WHEREAS, Mona leaves to cherish her memories: her adoring husband Francis; devoted son, Francis X (the late Rebecca) Barth; loving, daughter Jennifer (Eric) Whitelaw; treasured grandchildren, Matthew, Chandler, Jonathan, Sarah, and Timothy, each of whom affectionately called her "Nama"; and a host of extended family and fond friends. Mona was a source of inspiration to them all and a cherished presence in their lives; and
WHEREAS. Mona leaves a legacy of faith, dignity, and love. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, warmth, and compassion, will live on in all those who knew her; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and Members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago, assembled this thirteenth day of March, 2019, do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Mona J. Barth; and
