RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, The Reverend Monsignor Charles W. McNamee has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, the Reverend Monsignor Charles W. McNamee was a widely admired member of the religious community; and

WHEREAS, Known to all as "Father Mac," the Reverend Monsignor Charles W. McNamee was ordained to the priesthood on May 20, 1950; and

WHEREAS, The Reverend Monsignor Charles W. McNamee was involved in Catholic scouting for more than 75 years, including 42 years as Diocesan Director of Scouting; and

WHEREAS, The Reverend Monsignor Charles W. McNamee spent many summers at Camp Lowden near Oregon, Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The Reverend Monsignor Charles W. McNamee considered camps and trips an opportunity to bring the Catholic faith to youngsters and adults in an informal setting; and

WHEREAS, The Reverend Monsignor Charles W. McNamee ministered in parishes in Rockford, Elgin, Morrison, Rock Falls and Pecatonica; and

WHEREAS, The Reverend Monsignor Charles W. McNamee also served over the years as Chaplain of Mt. St. Francis Provincial House in Rockford, as Associate Director of Catholic Cemeteries and as Chancellor of the Diocese; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Reverend Monsignor Charles W. McNamee serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Reverend Monsignor Charles W. McNamee imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifteenth day of April, 2015, do hereby commemorate the Reverend Monsignor Charles W. McNamee for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Reverend Monsignor Charles W. McNamee.
