RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Dr. Tariq Butt is preparing to complete his distinguished tenure as a valued member of the Chicago Board of Education; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Tariq Butt was appointed to the Chicago Board of Education in 1995 and served faithfully for sixteen years; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Tariq Butt is a Board Certified Family Physician with teaching appointments^ at the University of Illinois' Medical College, Rush University Medical School, and Mt. Sinai Family Practice Residency Program, which is affiliated with the Chicago Medical School; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Tariq Butt is the Deputy Medical Officer of Access Community Health Network, providing a range of medical services to people from the West Side of Chicago regardless of their ability to pay; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Tariq Butt participates in the Chicago Public Schools' immunization programs, and currently serves as Member of the Board of Directors for the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB), the National School Boards Association (NSBA), and the Council of Urban Boards of Education (CUBE); and
WHEREAS, Dr. Tariq Butt also serves as a member of the Otho S.A. Sprague Foundation, an Ad Hoc Advisory Committee member of the Universtiy of Chicago Children's Hospital Mobile Care Van, and an Advisory Board member of the Consortium to Lower Obesity in Chicago Children; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Tariq Butt was one of the founding members of the Asian-American Institute and serves on both the Governor and Secretary of the State of Illinois' Asian-American Advisory Councils; and
WHEREAS, Along with his fellow Board Members, Dr. Tariq Butt has worked diligently to ensure that Chicago's public schools provide all students with an excellent academic foundation and a safe learning environment; now, therefore
