RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Kevin Flynn has gone to his eternal reward at the age of forty-six; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of the Lincoln Park community, Kevin Flynn was a widely admired business leader and the loving husband of Susan; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Flynn was the much-adored father of Donald, Brendan, Shannon and Katherine to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Flynn was the dear son of Beverly and the late Donald and the brother of Brian; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Flynn served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Emerald Ventures, Inc., a Chicago investment holding and financial advisory company; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Flynn was an investor in the Chicago Sun-Times prior to the sale of the newspaper in 2011; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Flynn was also a member of the Board of LKQ Corp., a company that sells auto parts, and was an active leader in the gaming industry and the founder of Blue Chip Casino; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Kevin Flynn serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Kevin Flynn to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Flynn will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Kevin Flynn imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eleventh day of September, 2013, do hereby commemorate Kevin Flynn for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kevin Flynn.
