Memorial Resolution for Edward Muldrow, Jr.

 

 

 

WHEREAS, Edward Muldrow, Jr. was called home to our almighty God on June 12, 2017; and

WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been notified of Edward Muldrow, Jr.'s passing by the Honorable Michael Scott, Jr., Alderman ofthe 24th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Edward Muldrow, Jr. was born to the late Faye and Edward Muldrow, Sr. on October 22, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Edward Muldrow, Jr. graduated from Tilden Technical High School and attended Butler University. He served honorably in the Korean War as a member of the Medical Corps; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Muldrow established Del-Kar Pharmacy in the North Lawndale neighborhood in 1960. He focused on hiring and mentoring youth who lived in the neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, Edward Muldrow, Jr. was known as "Mr. Ed" in the community. His daily routine included coffee, doughnuts, the newspaper and a cigar. He loved music, especially jazz and the music of Maze featuring Frankie Beverly; and

WHEREAS, Edward Muldrow, Jr. was a devoted lifelong member of St. Mark United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Muldrow leaves to cherish his memory his children, Edward III, Lynn, Lorie and Edwin; sister, Sherry (Timothy) Beaty; brother-in4aw, Willie Whitehead; best friend, Norvell Perkins; grandchildren; nieces; nephews and friends; and

WHEREAS, Edward Muldrow, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Faye and Edward Muldrow, Sr.; brother, Kenneth; and sister, Margo; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-eighth day of June, 2017, do hereby express our sorrow on the passing of Edward Muldrow, Jr. and extend to his family and friends our sincere condolences.

Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Edward Muldrow, Jr.
