Resolution Saluting Northside Catholic Academy as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2013
WHEREAS, Northside Catholic Academy, the official Catholic School of Andersonville, Edgewater and Rogers Park, was recognized by the United States Department of Education as a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School for educational excellence and preparation of students for success in college and careers; and
WHEREAS, Northside Catholic Academy was established in 1993 as the consolidation of six parish schools: St. Gertrude, St. Gregory the Great, St. Henry, St. Ignatius, St. Ita, and St. Jerome, and now has an enrollment of 505 students in kindergarten through 8th grade; and
WHEREAS, Northside Catholic Academy strives to serve the diversity of ethnicity, religious beliefs and economic status of the communities it serves; and
WHEREAS, Nothtside Catholic Academy's Guardian Angel Scholarship Fund provides hundreds of thousands of dollars in financial aid to students to ensure cost does not prevent a student from getting a great education; and
WHEREAS, The United States Department of Education annually acknowledges "Exemplary High Performing," and "Exemplary Improving" schools, Northside Catholic Academy is among the 236 public and 50 private schools to be recognized on November 18th and 19lh of this year in Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, Northside Catholic Academy was nominated by the Council for American Private Education; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Joseph A. Moore, Alderman of the 49th Ward, the Honorable Patrick J. O'Connor of the 40th Ward, the Honorable James Cappleman of the 46th Ward, and the Honorable Harry Osterman of the 48lh Ward, have apprised this august body of Northside Catholic Academy's national recognition and contributions to the educational landscape of Chicago; now therefore
