WHEREAS, Patricia Merriweather, star number 17310, an outstanding public servant and member of her community, retires as an officer of the Chicago Police Department after twenty-nine years of dedicated service to the people of this city; and
WHEREAS, Patricia served with distinction and dedication in the 006th District. During her career Officer Merriweather was awarded eight Complimentary Letters, seven Honorable Mentions, one Emblem of Recognition - Physical Fitness, one Arnold Mireles Special Partner Award, one Attendance Recognition Award, one Crime Reduction Award, one Presidential Election Deployment Award (2008), one Nato Summit Service Award, one Democratic National Convention Award, and one Crime Reduction Ribbon (2004); and
WHEREAS, The police have the very essential job of ensuring the safety and order of their community. This sworn officer has an important role in protecting lives and property, maintaining order and enforcing all laws accurately; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Lona Lane, Alderman ofthe 18thWard, has apprised this august body of Patricia Merriweather's significant milestone; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here in assembly this tenth day of December, 2014 A.D., do hereby salute Patricia Merriweather for her many years of dedicated service to the safety of this city and extend our very best wishes for health, happiness, and success in all future endeavors.
