RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Martin J. Healy, Jr. has been honored at the 116th Annual St. Patrick's Day Dinner and chosen as the 2017 Grand Marshal of the Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Irish Fellowship Club of Chicago has supported Chicago's civic, cultural and educational community for more than 115 years, and provides scholarship assistance to every Catholic high school in the Archdiocese of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Martin J. Healy, Jr. is an experienced and dedicated advocate for injured clients in a career that has included jury verdicts and settlements totaling $150 million in the areas of products liability, interstate trucking, construction , medical malpractice, transportation and police procedure cases; and
WHEREAS, Martin J. Healy, Jr. graduated from St. Ignatius College Preparatory where he received the alumni Award of Excellence in Law, the University of Notre Dame and Loyola University School of Law where he was the Associate Editor of Law Review; and
WHEREAS, Martin J. Healy, Jr. began his legal career as a law clerk for the Supreme Court of Illinois, worked as Counsel for the Illinois House of Representatives, was an Associate for James A. Dooley & Associates, and became General Counsel and First Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Martin J. Healy, Jr. is Past President of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and has been certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy; and
WHEREAS, Martin J. Healy, Jr. has lectured and written extensively for numerous Bar Associations, including the Association for Justice (AAJ), the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association (ITLA), the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA), the Chicago Bar Association (CBA) and the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education; and
