RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Evelyn P. Glieberman has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A woman of dignity, grace and charm, Evelyn P. Glieberman, nee Eraci, was the loving wife of Herbert; and
WHEREAS, Evelyn P. Glieberman was the much-adored mother of Gale, Joel and the late Ronald, the beloved grandmother of three and the dear sister of Joseph and the late Mary; and
WHEREAS, Evelyn P. Glieberman was an opera singer, performer, pianist and community leader; and
WHEREAS, During Chicago's nightclub era, Evelyn P. Glieberman performed at memorable venues, including Cafe Bonaparte, the Chicago Theatre, the Edgewater Beach Hotel, the Sheraton-Blackstone Hotel and Caruso's on Rush Street; and
WHEREAS, Evelyn P. Glieberman worked alongside Essie Kupcinet to found the Chicago Academy for the Arts and was a major fundraiser for the Lyric Opera of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Evelyn P. Glieberman was the recipient of the first Irv and Essie Kupcinet Leadership Award; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Evelyn P. Glieberman serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Evelyn P. Glieberman was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Evelyn P. Glieberman imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifteenth day of April, 2015, do hereby commemorate Evelyn P. Glieberman for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Evelyn P. Glieberman.
