A RESOLUTION HONORING JIM FLINT ON HIS 75th BIRTHDAY

 

 

 

Whereas, Jim Flint has been a community pioneer for LGBTQ rights in the City of Chicago since the 1960's, predating the modern LGBTQ rights movement; and

Whereas, being a successful businessman, Jim Flint has been operating the Baton Show Lounge on North Clark Street continually for 47 years; this venue has become a safe space and artistic haven for those in the LGBTQ community to allow full, personal self-expression to blossom and be nurtured; and

Whereas, additionally he is the founder of The Continental Pageantry System, which provides excellence in Female Impersonation and entertainment in a competitive format attracting competitors and guests from across the United States, Canada, and Europe, has been based in Chicago since 1980; and

Whereas, Jim also provides sponsorship within the gay and straight community for amateur athletes in softball, basketball, bowling, flag football, and darts to instill camaraderie and team spirit; and

Whereas, as an avid sportsman, Jim has been a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan that has been honored at Wrigley Field as a 49 Year Season Ticket Holder; and

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this twentieth day of July, 2016, hereby call for honoring Jim Flint on his 75th birthday as an exemplary Chicagoan, businessman, and mentor who has been a champion of equal rights for all regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, and identity; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution is presented to Jim Flint as a gift of gratitude from the City of Chicago honoring all the work he has done to improve the social condition for all Chicagoans.
