TRIBUTE TO LAURA JORDAN
 
WHEREAS, In His Infinite Wisdom. Almighty God has granted Laura Jordan, an outstanding member of her community, eternal rest on June 5, 2013; and
 
WHEREAS, On October 6, 1934, Laura Jordan started life as one of five children born to Johnnie Panel and Ennie Thronton. Originally from Madison, Arkansas, the family moved to the city in 1938. She attended George Washington Carver High School in Altgeld Gardens and later received her diploma from Fenger High School and also received her Associate Art Degree from Olive Harvey College in 1991; and
 
WHEREAS, Laura Jordan married Gilbert Larue Jordan Jr; (Big Pro) on December 28, 1951, with whom she shared 37 year of bliss before his passing in October of 1989. Their union was blessed with 5 boys and 2 girls; and
 
WHEREAS, Laura Jordan leaves to cherish her memories a sister Sandra (David) Wilson, a brother Kenneth Thornton, 16 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grand child, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable "loni L. Foulkes, Alderman ofthe 15th Ward, has informed this august body of Laura Jordan's transition; now therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this 26th Day of June, 2013 AD, do hereby express our sinccrcst sorrow upon learning ofthe passing of Laura Jordan and extend our deepest sympathies to her family, friends and all others whose lives she touched.
