MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR ROGER A. "RUSTY" ELMER
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the death of Roger A. "Rusty" Elmer on February 20, 2018 at the age of 69; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Born on May 30, 1948, Rusty was the beloved husband of Karen (nee Johnson) for forty years; loving father of Kristen (Tim) and Lauren; devoted eldest son of Doris and the late Roger E.; dear brother of Richard CPDR (Kyle) and the late Rocky CPDR (Barbara); fond brother-in-law to Deborah (Gary) Poynor; cherished uncle and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Rusty leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love and
WHEREAS, Rusty joined the police department in 1970 and served the later portion of his career as a sergeant in Bomb and Arson. Rusty enjoyed traveling, appreciated the serenity of the outdoors while walking his dogs in the Forest Preserve, and relished spending quality time with his family. He spent his free time reading and was a long time board member of the Torske Klub; and
WHEREAS, Rusty touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, generosity and vivacious spirit. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this twenty eighth day of March, 2018, do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Roger A. "Rusty" Elmer; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution are presented to the family of Mr. Roger A. "Rusty" Elmer as a sign of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
