RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert Chapman Buckley has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 94; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Arlington Heights, the Honorable Robert Chapman Buckley was a widely admired member of the judiciary and the loving husband of Patricia Eileen, nee O'Callahan; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert Chapman Buckley was the much-adored father of Gabrielle, Robert Jr., Peter, Patrick and Jacqueline and the grandfather of five to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert Chapman Buckley was a retired Justice of the Illinois Appellate Court; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert Chapman Buckley bravely served his country as a pilot, navigator and radar operator and flew daytime raids in B-17 bombers out of England during World War II; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of his valiant service to his country, the Honorable Robert Chapman Buckley was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the European Theatre Ribbon with four battle stars and an Army Commendation Ribbon; and
WHEREAS, Following the war, the Honorable Robert Chapman Buckley graduated from DePaul University and Georgetown Law School; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert Chapman Buckley served during the Korean War flying aircraft that refueled jets and was in the Strategic Air Command and JAG Corps during the Vietnam War and retired as a Colonel; and
WHEREAS, Upon his return to Chicago, the Honorable Robert Chapman Buckley opened a private law practice; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert Chapman Buckley became a Cook County magistrate in 1966, then an Associate Judge and was elected in 1972 as Circuit Court Judge; and
