CONGRATULATING GEJA'S CAFE ON THEIR 50th ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, Geja's Cafe was started in 1965 in Old Town as the first wine bar in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, In 1971, Geja's Cafe moved to its present address at 340 W. Armitage in Lincoln Park, where it remains today; and
WHEREAS, It is in the early years at the Lincoln Park location that Geja's Cafe began serving fondue and offering an extensive wine list featuring wines from all around the world; and
WHEREAS, In its fifty years, Geja's has developed a reputation as Chicago's most romantic restaurant; and
WHEREAS, The owners of Geja's Cafe have been longtime residents of Lincoln Park and have been active in serving and giving back to the community; and
WHEREAS, Geja's Cafe looks forward to many more years of bringing people to Lincoln Park to take a dip into one of their fondues; and
WHEREAS, Geja's Cafe is now celebrating its 50th anniversary; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Michele Smith, Alderman of the 43 rd Ward, has apprised this august body of the restaurant's importance to the Lincoln Park community as it celebrates 50 years in business; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the Chicago City Council, gathered here this twentieth day of May, 2015, do hereby congratulate Geja's Cafe on its 50th anniversary and extend our very best wishes for continued success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Geja's Cafe.
