MEMORIAL RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE OF PAUL MCDONALD
WHEREAS, on May 26, 2020, Paul Francis McDonald quietly and peacefully passed from this world into the next, in the comforting presence of his strong wife and the love of his dear family.
WHEREAS, McDonald was born in 1943, the youngest child of Anna and Lloyd McDonald. In his first year as a teenager, Paul jumped a train to travel to live with his sister Ann.
WHEREAS, as a young man, McDonald met a Dreikorn's Bread delivery man who was assisted by his daughter Leslie Ann Quinlan. McDonald asked Mr. Quinlan to date Leslie, and was rewarded with the love of his life and 54 years of marriage.
WHEREAS, in his career as an electrician, McDonald achieved master electrician status, a title bestowed only on a few and dedicated almost three decades of his life to powering his city's homes at the Holyoke Gas & Electric. He believed deeply in that noble profession.
WHEREAS, McDonald served as President of the Massachusetts Electrical Contractor's Association and helped students at Dean Vocational High School enter the skilled trades.
WHEREAS, McDonald was a witty and thoughtful scribe who enjoyed memorializing family predictions and debates. It was a privilege to receive correspondence from Paul McDonald.
WHEREAS, McDonald is survived by his loving wife Leslie Ann and sons Jeffrey Paul and wife Patty, Sean Patrick and wife Whitney, Scott Michael and wife Desiree, and Gregory John and girlfriend Kelly.
WHEREAS, McDonald will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Moira, Mia, Shae, Rowan, Eliana, Liam, Matthew and Bryn.
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this Ninth day of September 2020, do hereby commemorate Paul McDonald and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
