RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Sister Patricia Jean Doerr, O.P., has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of seventy-six; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, Sister Patricia Jean Doerr, O.P., faithfully served for fifty-six years as a member of the Sinsinawa Dominican Religious Order; and

WHEREAS, Raised in St. Barnabas Parish in the Beverly community, Sister Patricia Jean Doerr, O.P., was born to the late Marian and Charles, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Sister Patricia Jean Doerr, O.P., entered the Dominican Congregation and graduated from Rosary College in River Forest; and

WHEREAS, Sister Patricia Jean Doerr, O.P., earned graduate degrees in Latin from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska and in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Sister Patricia Jean Doerr, O.P., was a Fulbright Scholar at American Academy in Rome, Italy; and

WHEREAS, Sister Patricia Jean Doerr, O.P., was a dedicated educator who taught Latin, French and history at a number of Dominican high schools; and

WHEREAS, Sister Patricia Jean Doerr, O.P., later joined the Pastoral Care Staff of Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood where she ministered for fifteen years until her retirement in 1992; and

WHEREAS, Sister Patricia Jean Doerr, O.P., will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and admirers; and

WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Sister Patricia Jean Doerr, O.P., imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifteenth day of January, 2014, do hereby commemorate Sister Patricia Jean Doerr, O.P., for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
