Resolution Honoring Sherida Hudak
WHEREAS, Sherida Hudak has dedicated her entire working life to the Chicago Park District, starting as a day camp counselor in her younger years; and
WHEREAS, in the last 38 years, Slier has worked as a summer recreation leader, summer lifeguard, physical instructor at Lake Shore Park, and park supervisor at Frank J. Wilson Park; and
WHEREAS, during her time at Wilson Park, Sher was instrumental in bringing a new playground and tennis courts to the park, and improving other facilities; and
WHEREAS, Sher has worked to bring adult fitness programs to the park, including a walking club, weight training, and yoga; and
WHEREAS, Sher in 2012 championed the introduction of Chicago Shakespeare in the Park to Wilson Park, with attendance at 500 in the first year, growing to 1,200 in 2017; and
WHEREAS, Sher encourage the formation of the Wilson Park Advisory Council and in 2011 was awarded the Outstanding Chicago Park District Employee Award by Friends of the Parks; and
WHEREAS, Sher has consistently worked with her staff and the surrounding community to make Wilson Park a gem on the Far Northwest Side and one of the best amenities in the Jefferson Park community; and
WHEREAS, after 38 years of outstanding work with the Chicago Park District, Sher has decided to retire in June; now
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here in assembly on May 23, 2018, do hereby commemorate Sherida Hudak for her dedication to and efforts for the residents of Jefferson Park and the City of Chicago, and congratulate her on a well-earned retirement.
