CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO KIDWATCH PLUS ON CELEBRATING THEIR
THIRTIETH ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, Kidwatch Plus is celebrating their thirtieth year of serving children throughout the Chicago area; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of this special occasion by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, In 1983 Kidwatch was opened by Mary Brophy, one of the founders, as an afterschool program for children from area schools. Just two years later, in June of 1985, the program expanded to include Preschool, Kindergarten and Summer Camp. In September, 1989 with the opening of the infant/toddler center, the name was changed to Kidwatch Plus and the status changed to a non-profit, charitable, educational organization accredited by the National Association of the Education of Young Children and licensed by the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, Kidwatch Plus offers educational programs and quality care for children while their parents are working or attending school in order to help maintain family life. Treating each child as an individual, the stable and qualified staff offers a caring and positive environment in which a child can learn, be loved and feel secure, working from the level that each child has attained and moving forward one step at a time bridging the gap from home to child care center and guiding children to a positive self-image while building social skills in a group setting; and
WHEREAS, The Directors of Kidwatch Plus have over fifty years of combined experience in providing Early Childhood Development ensuring that the staff is dedicated to encouraging children's growth through planned daily activities which meet the emotional, physical, intellectual and social needs ofthe children; now, therefore;
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and the members of the City Council of Chicago gathered here this eleventh day of December 2013, do hereby congratulate Kidwatch Plus on celebrating their thirti...
