MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR MARGUERITE JONES

 

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the departure of Marguerite Jackson-Jones on June 11, 2017; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37* Ward; and

 

WHEREAS, Marguerite was born on September 28, 1934, in Greenville, Mississippi, to the union of the late James and Rachel Jackson Sr. ; and '

 

WHEREAS, She accepted Christ as an early age, attending Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Richard Nelson; and

 

WHEREAS, Marguerite received her nursing training from Malcom X college and worked at: Rush Presbyterian Medical Center for 35 years until she retired in 1998; and

 

 

WHEREAS, Marguerite affectionally known as Aunt Ree, sang on the New Galilee Youth Choir, the Usher board in her later years and the Mother's Board; and

 

WHEREAS, Marguerite leaves to cherish his memory her husband Lamar Jones, son Ronald Dawson, one brother Nathaniel (Bill Ree) Jackson, one sister Billie (Roosevelt) Anderson, five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, two god-children and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and

 

WHEREAS, Marguerite who was a faithful church touched the lives of all who knew her through her love and spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memory Aunt Ree will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this 28th day of June, 2017, do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Mrs. Marguerite Jackson-Jones; and
