WHEREAS, On November 22,2014, "Friends of Adam" held their sixth annual Adam Schatz Memorial Benefit at Edison Park Inn; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this important occasion by the Honorable Mary E. O'Connor, Alderman of the 41st Ward and the Honorable Daniel S. Solis, Alderman ofthe 25th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Adam Schatz, a popular and beloved friend to many, risk taker and lover of go-karting, lost his life in a tragic accident, shaking the community around him; and

WHEREAS, since the heartbreaking loss, every year Adam's family and friends gather together to remember Adam and to raise money for causes that were dear to Adam's heart. "Friends of Adam", led by Adam's girlfriend Jackie Foucre, has raised more than $75,000 over the last six years for Theda Clark Medical Center Foundation, Gift of Hope, Donate Life, Bucks for Burns and St. Mary of the Woods School; and

WHEREAS, gathering together every year to find support from one another, the coordinators of "Friends of Adam" spend countless hours organizing an event to provide help to charitable organizations, channeling their efforts toward doing good for the community in Adam's memory; and

WHEREAS, among these organizations are organ donation charities, a cause close to those who knew Adam. After his passing, his vital organs helped save six lives, and countless others were affected through bone, skin, and soft tissue donations. Adam's family communicates with the families who benefitted from these donations and they take comfort knowing that even in death, Adam selflessly helped others; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council do hereby extend our condolences on the loss of Adam Schatz's life, express our deepest gratitude to "Friends of Adam" for continuing to support important causes and offer our best wishes for a successful event; and
