RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Zylpha Mercedes Kilbride Clinton has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 105; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A native of Minnesota, Zylpha Mercedes Kilbride Clinton was the loving and devoted wife of the late Stanford; and
WHEREAS, Known to all as "Zylly", Zylpha Mercedes Kilbride Clinton passed away on Ash Wednesday, just ten weeks short of her 106th birthday; and
WHEREAS, Zylpha Mercedes Kilbride Clinton attended St. Catherine's College in St. Paul, Minnesota before transferring to Northwestern University where she met her husband; and
WHEREAS, Zylpha Mercedes Kilbride Clinton will be remembered for her humor, vigor, and indomitable spirit; and
WHEREAS, Zylpha Mercedes Kilbride Clinton inspired the lives of countless people through her great personal goodness, charity and concern; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Zylpha Mercedes Kilbride Clinton serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Zylpha Mercedes Kilbride Clinton to her family members, friends and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Zylpha Mercedes Kilbride Clinton will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives and friends; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Zylpha Mercedes Kilbride Clinton imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fourth day of May, 2011, do hereby commemorate Zylpha Mercedes Kilbride Clinton for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Zylpha Mercedes Kilbride Clinton.
