TRIBUTE TO LEONA VIOLET SULLIVAN:
 
WHEREAS, In His infinite wisdom, God has granted eternal rest to Leona Violet Sullivan, an outstanding citizen and member of her community, on April 12, 2014; and
 
WHEREAS, Leona Violet Sullivan was born on April 12, 1914 in South Dakota, moving to Chicago early in her life and eventually buying a home and settling in the Pullman Neighborhood; and
 
WHEREAS, Leona Violet Sullivan faithfully served the Chicago Police force in her forty years as a crossing guard until retiring in 1994. Often commended for both her extraordinary ability in working with troubled youth, and always having a spare cap and gloves for any child in the winter, Leona Violet Sullivan touched many lives while serving the City of Chicago; and
 
WHEREAS, Leona Violet Sullivan and late husband James Sullivan are survived by their two daughters Joan York Sullivan and Donna-Faye Sullivan, the Sullivan's join their late children Floyd Buck, Geraldine Kitchen and Beverly Kannapel in eternal rest. Leona Violet Sullivan will be continually remembered through her three generations of grandchildren; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert W. Fioretti, Alderman of the 2nd Ward, has apprised this august body of the transition of Leona Violet Sullivan; and
 
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered together on this 30lh Day of July, 2014, do hereby express our sincerest sorrow upon learning of the passing of Leona Violet Sullivan and extend our deepest sympathies to her family and all those whose lives she touched.
