Resolution- Alpha Phi Omega (APO) Week
WHEREAS, the Alpha Phi Omega (APO) National Service Fraternity is an organization of community members who use their time and talents to better their colleges, neighborhoods, and cities, including this great city of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, this resolution is brought before this esteemed body by the Honorable Alderman Daniel Solis, ofthe 25th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Alpha Phi Omega has over 700 chapter charters in the United States, and over 300 chapter charters in the Philippines and Australia; and
WHEREAS, Alpha Phi Omega is active in the city of Chicago by way of their service and leadership, as well as their continuing 20-year sponsorship ofthe 600-1000 blocks of South Harrison in the City's Adopt-A-Street program. The fraternity's membership also celebrates its community mission with its honorary street signs of Dr. Librado Ureta Way, on the corner of Racine and Harrison, and Frank Reed Horton Way, on the corner of Halsted and Harrison; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, that, we, the Mayor and members of the City Council ofthe city of Chicago gathered here this twelfth day of November, 2014, do hereby recognize the week of December 26th to the 30th, 2014, in the city of Chicago as "Alpha Phi Omega Week," honoring the contributions that members of Alpha Phi Omega have made and continue to make to our great city; and

Be It Further Resolved, that suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Alpha Phi Omega chapters at University of Illinois at Chicago: Sigma Sigma #42nd, APO Chicagoland Alumni Association, University ofthe Philippines at Diliman: ETA Chapter 7th, and APO Philippines Midwest Chicago Alumni Association #39.
