RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Leo A. Dombrowski has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 85; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, Leo A. Dombrowski was the loving husband of the late Caroline M., nee Vogt; and

WHEREAS, Leo A. Dombrowski was the much-adored father of Leo, Mary, Peter, Bill, John, Carol and Steven and the grandfather of two to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, Leo A. Dombrowski was born near 35th Street and Emerald Avenue in Chicago's close-knit Bridgeport community where his mother was a friend of Eleanor "Sis" Daley, the wife of Mayor Richard J. Daley; and

WHEREAS, Leo A. Dombrowski attended Tilden Technical High School and graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut in 1950; and

WHEREAS, Leo A. Dombrowski marched as a cadet at President Harry S. Truman's inaugural ceremony in Washington, D.C. in January of 1949; and

WHEREAS, From 1959 to 1970 Leo A. Dombrowski lived with his family in the 14th Ward before moving to the suburb of La Grange; and

WHEREAS, Leo A. Dombrowski was active as a Scoutmaster and volunteered along with his wife for more than three decades at the Brookfield Zoo; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Leo A. Dombrowski serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Leo A. Dombrowski to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, Leo A. Dombrowski will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Leo A. Dombrowski imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled...
