RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Shimon Peres has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 93; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Shimon Peres was a Nobel Laureate and a former Israeli President and Prime Minister; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Shimon Peres held almost every position in Israeli public service and was his nation's most visible link to its founding; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Shimon Peres was a protege of Israel's founding father David Ben-Gurion and held every major Cabinet post including defense, finance and foreign affairs; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Shimon Peres strived throughout his long and highly distinguished career to promote peaceful economic and cultural cooperation throughout all nations in the Middle East; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Shimon Peres serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Shimon Peres was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Shimon Peres imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifth day of October, 2016, do hereby commemorate The Honorable Shimon Peres for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
