RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Members of this Chamber are pleased to congratulate Jimmy Joyce, Projects Administrator in the Chicago Department of Transportation, on the occasion of his retirement; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Joyce grew up in the Beverly/Morgan Park community, in a family with strong union roots; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Joyce graduated from Brother Rice High School in 1972, and attended the University of Miami and Western Illinois University; and
WHEREAS, As a young father, Mr. Joyce completed his degree attending night school at Loyola University; and
WHEREAS, In 1975, Mr. Joyce joined the City of Chicago Department of Public Works as a Bricklayer; and
WHEREAS, During his 44 years with the City, Mr. Joyce advanced to the position of General Foreman of Bricklayers and later to General Foreman of Trades; and
WHEREAS, In 1999, Mr. Joyce assumed his current position as Projects Administrator in the Chicago Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, Always family-focused, Mr. Joyce is a devoted father of 4 children, and has been married to his wife Peggy for 40 years; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Joyce has been a wonderful influence on his children, providing them with strong guidance and support; and
WHEREAS, Under Mr. Joyce's guiding hand, his daughters are adept at using power tools and have their own tool sets; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago, assembled this twelfth day of June, 2019, do hereby congratulate Jimmy Joyce on his retirement; express our gratitude for his 44 years of distinguished public service to the City of - Chicago; and extend to him our very best wishes for continued success; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Jiuwriy Joyce as a token of our appreciation and esteem.
