RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Rosaland M. Crandell has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-nine; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Rosaland M. Crandell, nee Guy, was the loving mother of Margaret, Christopher and Catherine and the much-adored grandmother of five; and
WHEREAS, A native of downstate Irving, Illinois, the Honorable Rosaland M. Crandell served her country during World War II as an aviation machinist's mate and a torpedo inspector in the United States Navy; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Rosaland M. Crandell attended Northwestern University on the G.I. Bill and later earned a law degree from the Chicago-Kent College of Law; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Rosaland M. Crandell practiced civil law in Evanston for twenty-three years before being named an Associate Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County in 1982; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Rosaland M. Crandell ably served in courtrooms located in downtown Chicago as well as Skokie and Rolling Meadows; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure, the Honorable Rosaland M. Crandell earned a reputation for fairness and integrity; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Rosaland M. Crandell lived for many years in Evanston and Wilmette before moving to Lynwood in 2006; and
WHEREAS, Following a long and distinguished tenure, the Honorable Rosaland M. Crandell retired from the bench in 1998 at the age of seventy-five; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Rosaland M. Crandell was a Past President of the Evanston Zonta Club, a service organization; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Rosaland M. Crandell serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, the Honorable Rosaland M. Crandell imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
