RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Michelle M. Kohut, a widely admired member of the legal community, will be sworn in as President of the Women's Bar Association of Illinois on June 13, 2013; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, The Women's Bar Association of Illinois, one of the oldest and largest bar associations in the state, was first established in 1914 by nine women lawyers practicing in the Chicago Metropolitan Area; and

WHEREAS, The Women's Bar Association of Illinois was founded to promote the interests and welfare of women lawyers and to aid in the enactment of legislation for the common good and in the administration of justice; and

WHEREAS, A Chicago personal injury trial lawyer, Michelle M. Kohut joined the law firm of Corboy & Demetrio in 2004 and practices in all areas of personal injury law; and

WHEREAS, Michelle M. Kohut is active in local and national bar associations, including the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the Women's Bar Association of Illinois, where she served as First Vice President; and

WHEREAS, Michelle M. Kohut was President of Women Everywhere - Partners in Service Project, Inc., a community service project which seeks to open doors to women and children in need and to expose high school girls to challenging careers in the legal profession; and

WHEREAS, Michelle M. Kohut served on the Board of Directors of Heartland International Health Center which is dedicated to improving the health of persons living in several communities of Chicago by providing affordable, quality, multilingual, and culturally competent health services; and

WHEREAS, In 2007, in recognition of her success, hard work and civic involvement, Michelle M. Kohut was named one of "40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch" by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company; and

WHEREAS, The expertise and professionalism of Michelle M. Kohut serve as an example to all; now, ...
