Title: Congratulations extended to Mary Dean on 104th birthday

WHEREAS, Ms. Mary Dean has been a resident of Chicago for the past 37 years, and had lived in the Lakeview area for 14 years. Before that, she was a resident ofthe 42nd ward for 23 years. And for the past few years has been a resident of the 46th Ward.

 

WHEREAS, on October 2nd, 2021, Officer Leslie Carter of the 19th District came to escort Ms. Mary Dean and family to a neighborhood restaurant to celebrate her birthday.

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Mary Dean has remained active, even at the age of 104. Ms. Mary Dean enjoys senior classes and events at the Cultural Center downtown, ice skating in Maggie Daley Park, and attending church service at St. John Baptist on Sunday's.

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Mary Dean is the matriarch of four generations: her eleven children, and bunches of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Mary Dean has always been independent, and up until 2 years ago, was traveling on the CTA by herself. Many bus operators knew her by name, and she was always a friendly face to see.

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Mary Dean is the epitome of 104 years young, as she just started using a walker this past November, and is still going strong.

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Mary Dean may not be able to travel as widely right now, she still enjoys seeing her family on FaceTime and getting periodic visits from her family during the pandemic.

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Mary Dean, we hope you have a wonderful 104th year, and a happy 2022. We cannot wait to see what adventures you and your family get up to, Thank you for being a life-long Chicagoan and neighbor.

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this 23rd day of February, 2022 do hereby celebrate Ms. Mary Dean's life with her and her family;
