RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, God in His Infinite Wisdom has called Merrily Szantor to her eternal reward; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Marty Quinn, Alderman ofthe 13th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Merrily Szantor, 73, of Chicago, died Monday, March 2; and
WHEREAS, Merrily was born October 23,1946, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the daughter of Aloysius and Rosemary Szantor. She was educated in Kenosha schools and received a bachelor's degree from George Williams College, Downers Grove, III., a master's degree from Chicago State University, and was employed for many years as an educational consultant with the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois, from which she retired; and
WHEREAS, Merrily is survived by her best friend, Janice Welzien, of Chicago; brothers James (Marianne) of Milwaukee, Wis.; Lawrence of Buffalo, N.Y.; and Kevin of Norcross, Ga.; also by a sister Kathleen Szantor-Schmeling (Tom) of Providence, R.I.; nieces Alexandra Szantor-Schmeling of Alexandria, VA; Kirsten Szantor of Lockport, N.Y.; Allison Szantor-Kai (Jesse) of Wayne, Neb.; Stacy Keeton-Olsen (Michael) of Mt. Prospect, III.; and Sarah (Jeffrey) Webber of Barrington, III. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Norma Jean (in infancy); her paternal grandparents Kasimir and Stella Szantor and maternal grandparents Michael and Helen (Wade) Zens, all of Kenosha, plus many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe Chicago City Council gathered here this eighteenth day of March, 2020, do hereby express our sorrow on the death Merrily Szantor and extend to her family and friends our deepest sympathy.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy ofthis resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Merrily Szantor.
