Iglesia Evangelica Emanuel Resolution
WHEREAS, Iglesia Evangelica Emanuel is celebrating its 25th Anniversary of ministry within the City of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, This august body was made aware of this accomplishment by the Honorable Gilbert Villegas, Alderman of the 36th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Iglesia Evangelica Emanuel (IEE) began with humble roots in March 1991 holding its first service in Pastor Jimmy Santiago's home; and
WHEREAS, IEE was founded with the purpose of being a beacon of light and hope in the Belmont-Cragin community; and
WHEREAS, The church were led by their founders Pastor Jimmy and Miriam Santiago and Danny and Zoraida Soto to carry out this mission and grow within the community; and
WHEREAS, In 1993 IEE worshiped at 2435 N Laramie from 1993 until 1997; and
WHEREAS, In 1997 IEE purchased property at 5016 W Armitage, and spent the next year renovating the building, finally celebrating the church's grand opening in 1998; and
WHEREAS, Leadership was passed on to Marco and Nora Munoz in 2002 as they served as pastors at.
IEE; and
WHEREAS, In 2009 the Lord brought Antonio and Marcia Mariscal to be pastors over at IEE; and
WHEREAS, IEE celebrates the lives that they have impacted and strives to continuing making an impact on the community; and
WHEREAS, IEE is thankful for the people who have contributed to IEE's accomplishment and helped it flourish for more than two decades; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the City Council of Chicago, assembled here on this 20th day of July 2016, do hereby extend our congratulations to the Iglesia Evangelica Emanuel, and extend our wishes for many more years of success; and
