RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, The Honorable Brian Barnett Duff has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 85; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Wilmette, the Honorable Brian Barnett Duff was a widely admired member of the judiciary and the loving husband of Florence, nee Buckley; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Brian Barnett Duff was the much-adored father of Ellen, Brian, Roderick, Kevin and Daniel and the grandfather of eleven to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, Born in Dallas, Texas, the Honorable Brian Barnett Duff graduated from Notre Dame University and the DePaul University College of Law; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Brian Barnett Duff served as a member of the Illinois State Legislature from 1971 to 1976 and as a Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County from 1976 to 1985; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Brian Barnett Duff received his commission as a Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 1985; and

WHEREAS, A proud patriot, the Honorable Brian Barnett Duff was a veteran of the United States Navy and the Naval Reserve; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Brian Barnett Duff serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Brian Barnett Duff to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Brian Barnett Duff was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Brian Barnett Duff imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
