RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, In 2010, Unidad Dominicana (UNIDOM), was established in Chicago; and,

 

WHEREAS, Ever since its inception, UNIDOM, has proven to be an invaluable nonprofit organization, with the honorable intention of re-uniting and representing the Dominican Republic in the City of Chicago; and,

 

WHEREAS, The impact and the unity that this organization has garnered for the Dominican Community of Chicago has undoubtedly nurtured a strong sense of morale and recognition; and,

 

WHEREAS, UNIDOM continues to provide remarkable services and a strong support system to members of its Dominican community in the form of: exciting organized outing events such as the "Festival Dominicano"; community service outreach programs for the youth, such as "Jornada De Limpieza"; as well as scholarships for students ofthe Latino community; and,

WHEREAS, UNIDOM's previous "Festivales Dominicanos" have remained an excitingly memorable event in where the Dominican community has been able to proudly showcase and actively embrace its culture within the City of Chicago; and now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this 29th day of July in 2015, do hereby congratulate Unidad Dominicana on its 6th Annual Festival Dominicano, as well as recognize its honorable services for the members of the Dominican Community, especially its youth; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy ofthis resolution be prepared and presented to La Unidad Dominicana, as a sign of our support and appreciation.
