^Oh&tBClS / pn March 22, 2015, the Latin School of Chicago's girls ice hockey team defeated Loyola Academy to win the high school state championship;
and /' "' ¦' ¦'. ,? ' ¦.
WHEREAS, The Romans's victory marks the first time a City team has won the state title in a sport dominated since its inaugural season by suburban schools; and -
WHEREAS, the Latin School's current team actually comprises students hot only from Latin and the University of Chicago Lab School, but also Chicago Public Schools Whitney Young, Lane Tech, and Jones College Prep; and
WHEREAS, In the state semifinal, this valiant squad of Chicago skaters notched its fourth victory of the season over the six-time state champs New Trier, dominating on both sides of the fed line in a 5-0 triumph; and
WHEREAS, Facing another perennial power, Loyola Academy, in the championship game at the United Center, Latin took a 3-1 lead into the final three minutes, and withstood a furious Loyola rally to prevail by the score of 4-3;

WHEREAS, This was a season of firsts for Latin's girls ice hockey team — its first regular season championship, its first state championship, its first Coach of the Year award (shared by sisters Claire and Courtney O'Connor), and its first Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois; High School Player of the Year (awarded to defender Grace Zarzecki, a senior at Whitney Young); and
