RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, George J. Marcin has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, George J. Marcin was a widely admired member of the law enforcement community and the loving husband of the late Helene; and
WHEREAS, George J. Marcin was the much-adored father of George, Kathleen, Margaret, Mary and the late Thomas and the grandfather of two to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, George J. Marcin was the dear brother of the Honorable John Marcin, a former Chicago City Clerk; and
WHEREAS, George J. Marcin was a veteran of the United States Navy who served his country during World War II; and
WHEREAS, George J. Marcin enjoyed a long and illustrious career with the Chicago Police Department and retired as a Commander; and
WHEREAS, George J. Marcin was known as a level-headed and popular leader; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure in public service, George J. Marcin established a lasting rapport with those who served under him; and
WHEREAS, A trusted mentor to many, George J. Marcin was an instructor at Lewis University; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of George J. Marcin serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared George J. Marcin to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, George J. Marcin imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-eighth day of June, 2017, do hereby commemorate George J. Marcin for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented ...
